AVP Tour, Former Bruins Hit Southern California

July 17, 2007

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Former UCLA All-American Elaine Youngs, with partner Nicole Branagh, hope to make it back-to-back tournament titles at this week's AVP Long Beach Open. Champions of the Seaside Heights Open on July 8, the tandem looks to continue their winning ways at this week's AVP Tour stop, which begins Thursday and runs through Sunday at the Marina Green Park in Long Beach.

Youngs and Branagh have won twice on tour this season, also capturing the first event of the season, the Miami Open. The duo beat top team Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh in the semis before dispatching Jennifer Boss and April Ross in the final. It was the combo of Boss and Ross which Youngs and Branagh defeated in the Seaside Heights Open.

Additional former Bruins who are scheduled to make an appearance this weekend are the team of Annett (Buckner) Davis and Jenny Johnson Jordan, as well as Lauren Fendrick, Holly McPeak, Julie (Bremner) Romias and Chrissie Zartman.

Following this weekend's tournament in Long Beach, the AVP Tour heads to Chicago before making a return trip to Southern California for the Manhattan Beach Open (Aug. 9-12) at the Manhattan Beach Pier.
