Hagadone Set For Fenway Park Debut

Former Husky pitcher Nick Hagadone will become the latest former Washington baseballer to begin his professional career when he makes his debut at Fenway Park this Friday. Hagadone, who was slated to start on the mound earlier last Sunday for the Lowell (Mass.) Spinners of the New York-Penn League (short-season A ball), had his intended debut game rained out.

Instead, he'll pitch this Friday (July 20) when the Spinners take on Williamsport in a special game that will be played at Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, who selected Hagadone with their first pick in the 2007 MLB Draft, the 55th pick overall.

Hagadone joins 21 former Husky baseball players currently toiling in organized, affiliated baseball. Four other UW alums dot the rosters of independent-league baseball. Here's a look at former Washington baseball players currently in professional baseball (as of July 18, 2007):
