'I told (USA and Villanova Head Coach Jay Wright) I feel comfortable playing either the one or two (guard) and he is going to play me as a combo guard,' Low said. 'It's going to be tough (potentially playing five games in five days). It's certainly going to be tiring.'
Weaver added, 'We've had a couple days of practice with the guys and we've all started to bond together. Hopefully, that carries over to Brazil. Definitely, it's been a bonus just having (Derrick) on the court and he's my roommate too. It's made this whole thing a little more comfortable having a teammate with me.'
Low and Weaver are the first Cougars to represent the USA in men's basketball at the Pan American Games. They are the first WSU male student-athletes, past or present, to don a USA uniform in international team sport competition since Mike Kinkade captured a baseball gold medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
The WSU seniors-to-be will be teamed on the USA roster with guards Wayne Ellington (North Carolina), Eric Maynor (Virginia Commonwealth), Drew Neitzel (Michigan State), Scottie Reynolds (Villanova), forwards Joey Dorsey (Memphis), Shan Foster (Vanderbilt), James Gist (Maryland), Maarty Leunen (Oregon), D.J. White (Indiana) and center Roy Hibbert (Georgetown).
