Estrada, Rickards To Play For McGuire Cup

UCLA sophomores David Estrada and Patrick Rickards will play for the James P. McGuire Cup at the U.S. Youth Soccer Championships this week in Frisco, Texas. The Bruin duo are playing with their club team, South San Jose San Juan Ruckus, which won the Region IV Under-19 Boys title in June, posting a 6-0 record and outscoring its opponents, 19-2, at the Regional Championships.
The Ruckus' first game at the National Championships is scheduled for Wed., July 25 against Region II champion Chicago Magic. The following day, the Ruckus will face Dallas Texans Red 88 from Region III before ending round robin play against Baltimore Casa Mia Bays from Region I on July 27. The finals will take place on Sunday, July 29.
The Ruckus squad consists of collegiate players representing UCLA, California, Santa Clara, Cal Poly and UC Irvine, amongst others.
Estrada, last season's Soccer America Freshman of the Year, led UCLA in scoring with 11 goals and 28 points in his rookie campaign. Rickards, a former U.S. Under-17 National Team player, saw action in six games with one start last season.
