U.S. Ends Pan Am Run After Loss To Mexico

The U.S. ended its run at the Pan America games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with a 2-0 loss to Mexico in the final game of group play on Saturday. Mexico scored both goals with a man advantage, scoring twice after U.S. captain Jalil Anibaba picked up his second yellow card of the game in the 72nd minute.

Just three minutes after Anibaba was sent off, Rodolfo del Real put Mexico ahead, 1-0. Mexico doubled its lead in the 78th minute on a goal by Enrique Alejandro Esqueda.

UCLA sophomores Michael Stephens and Chance Myers started for Team USA. Senior Greg Folk did not play.

The U.S. finished the tournament with a 1-2-0 record.
