Inika McPherson Takes 11th in Pan Am Games High Jump

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - California All-American Inika McPherson took 11th place with a mark of 1.78 meters in the women's high jump final yesterday in the Pan Am Games at Joao Havelange Stadium.
Mexico's Maria Romary Rifka won the gold medal with a jump of 1.95 meters, Canada's Nicole Forrester claimed the silver with a 1.95 and Saint Lucia's Levern Spencer took the bronze with a 1.87.
McPherson is coming off a strong sophomore season in the high jump, including a fourth-place finish at the U.S. Outdoor Championships, a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Cal alumna Kristin Heaston will vie for the women's shot put gold medal in the Pan Am Games final at 12 p.m. PT on Friday.
