Leach Picks Up Another Bronze Medal at PanAm Games
July 28, 2007
Nicole Leach picked up her second bronze medal for this year's PanAm Games in Brazil on Saturday as she anchored the U.S. team to a third-place finish in a time of 3:27.84. The junior-to-be also picked up a bronze medal on Wednesday in the 400m hurdles.
Leach was put in the anchor spot for the relay after an injury forced former Bruin Monique Henderson out of competition. Another former Bruin, Sheena Johnson, did not compete past the 400m hurdles final (in which she won the gold medal), moving Leach into the line-up.
Leach will next compete at the World Championships in Osaka, Japan in late August. Current Bruin Rhonda Watkins (Trinidad and Tobago) and several former Bruins including Johnson will also compete. Also heading to Osaka are Michelle Perry, Suzy Powell (Roos), Amy Acuff and Jessica Cosby.
