Stanford Women's Swimming Affiliates Competing At Summer Senior Nationals

Indianapolis, Ind. - A total of 17 Stanford women's swimming affiliates are scheduled to compete at the 2007 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships. The long-course meters event is being held at the IU Natatorium on the campus of Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis this Tuesday-Saturday, July 31 - August 4.

Stanford women's swimming affiliates scheduled to compete in individual events include Andrea Axtell (200 back); Caroline Bruce (200 back, 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM); Laura Davis (200 IM); Elizabeth Durot (200 free, 400 free, 800 free); Danielle Gonzales (200 breast); Kelley Hug (100 back, 100 fly); Dana Kirk (100 fly, 200 fly); Tara Kirk (100 breast, 200 breast, 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM); Kerry Kraemer (100 breast, 200 breast); Alexa Merz (50 free); Fiona O'Donnell-McCarthy (50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 100 back); Caroline Rodriguez (100 back, 100 fly); Madeline Rovira (50 free, 100 free); Whitney Spence (200 free, 400 free, 800 free, 200 fly); Julia Smit (100 free, 200 free, 400 free, 100 back, 200 breast, 200 IM, 400 IM); Elizabeth Smith (100 breast, 200 breast, 200 IM, 400 IM) and Laura Wadden (200 back, 100 fly, 200 fly).

Dara Torres, who trained at Stanford for the 2000 Olympic Games, is entered in the event as top seed in the 50 free and the third seed in the 100 free. Torres is the oldest swimmer scheduled to compete in the meet at the age of 40 years old.
