Volleyball Reports To Fall Camp

SEATTLE-- The Washington volleyball team reported to campus Tuesday and had its first practice this afternoon. A 2006 national semifinalist and Pac-10 runner-up, Washington returns four starters for the 2007 campaign.
The team will practice for two-and-a-half weeks before opening the season at home when it hosts the Husky Classic, Aug. 24-25. Joining Washington in the four-team tournament is Cal State Northridge, Fresno State and San Francisco. The Huskies open the tournament against San Francisco on Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.
Washington will then hit the road for three consecutive weekends to play in tournaments at Gonzaga, Aug. 31-Sept. 1, Long Beach State, Sept. 6-7 and Jacksonville/North Florida, Sept. 13-15.
The Huskies will open the Pac-10 season at home when they host Oregon and Oregon State, Sept. 21-22 at 7 p.m. Last season, Washington tied for second place in the conference and one match behind league champion Stanford. The Huskies were the Pac-10 Champions in 2004 and 2005.
Washington welcomes back three All-Americans for the 2007 season, including senior outside hitter and 2006 Pac-10 Player of the Year Christal Morrison, senior middle blocker Alesha Deesing and junior middle blocker Jessica Swarbrick.
Other returning starters include senior outside hitter Stevie Mussie, the 2006 NCAA Seattle Regional MVP, and sophomore libero Tamari Miyashiro, who was a Pac-10 All-Freshman team selection last season.
Season, group and single-match tickets are currently on sale through the Husky Athletic Ticket Office, located in Graves Hall on the UW campus. Season tickets can be purchased for $88 per seat and include reserved seating in the lower bowl of Bank of America Arena, and a discount from the single-match ticket price. Single-match ticket prices range from $4-$9.
