Grant Green Helps Yarmouth-Dennis To Cape Cod League Title

LOS ANGELES -- USC sophomore shortstop Grant Green (Anaheim Hills/Canyon HS) can add a Cape Cod League championship to his growing resume after the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox swept the Falmouth Commodores in the best-of-three series with a 2-0 win Tuesday.

Green helped the Red Sox in game one of the series on Monday after hitting two home runs in a four-RBI performance in the 8-2 victory. Green played at first base for Y-D and led off the game with his first of two solo home runs.

He hit .291 with four home runs and 12 RBI during the regular season in the Cape.

Green batted .316 (72-for-228) last season for the Trojans with 14 doubles, 10 triples, two home runs, 24 RBI and six stolen bases with a .966 fielding percentage. His 10 triples set a school single-season record, breaking the previous mark of eight triples. He was named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and All-America second team, along with being named as 2007 Pac-10 Conference Co-Freshman of the Year.

He ended his freshman season for the Trojans with a streak of 17 games without committing an error. He also finished the season with a 13-game hitting streak and hit safely in 27 of his last 29 games while leading the team with 21 multi-hit games (16 games with two hits and five games with three hits).
