USC Opens 2007 Season At No. 6 In AVCA Preseason Poll

LOS ANGELES -- The USC women's volleyball team has been ranked No. 6 in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in its 2007 preseason poll. The Trojans return 10 letterwinners and five seniors from last year's squad that finished 27-5 and reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
Nebraska opens the season at the No. 1 spot, followed by Stanford, Penn State, Texas and UCLA. Two other Pac-10 schools are ranked with Washington at No. 8 and Cal at No. 12. Three nonconference teams on USC's schedule this season are Purdue (No. 13), Ohio State (No. 16) and Utah (No. 21).
USC opens the 2007 season on Friday (Aug. 24) against Michigan State at the Galen Center. The match starts at 7 p.m. and is part of the Trojan Invitational which features USC, Michigan State, Loyola Marymount and St. John's.
