The University of California Athletic Department has announced that it has broken its record for football season ticket sales for the fourth straight year. On Wednesday the Golden Bears surpassed last year's total of 40,262.

Department officials estimate between 500-600 season tickets are being sold on a weekly basis, and are still encouraging fans to purchase season tickets. The only way to get tickets to the Tennessee (Sept. 1) and USC (Nov. 10) games currently, are still available thru a season ticket purchase. Single-game tickets are also available for all games except Tennessee, USC and Stanford. Season tickets are currently available by visiting or by calling 1-800-GO-BEARS.

There is also a Young Alumni package available for those who graduated from the years 1998-2007.

Since the arrival of head coach Jeff Tedford, California's season ticket count has been on a steady climb. The Bears sold 16,200 season passes in 2002 -- Tedford's first year. His second season resulted in sales of 22,500. In 2004, the number again jumped substantially, up to a then-school-record 34,100. In 2005, the Bears set another mark with 40,134 season tickets sold and again in 2006 (40,262).

Cal also held another double-day session in Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, practicing in pads during the morning tutorials and helmets in the evening drills. Much of the late afternoon exercises were light, just centering on sharpening all three phases - offense, defense and special teams coverage techniques.

In the more intense morning drills, the Bears once again concentrated on 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 sessions. The first, second and third string offenses all performed various route runs and protection drills.

The Bears continue practice tomorrow with a late afternoon scrimmage.

California opens the 2007 season on Saturday, Sept. 1, hosting Tennessee at Memorial Stadium in a 5 p.m. contest.
