Energy Level Remains High During Double-Day Workout
Aug. 20, 2007
Stanford, Calif. - The energy level remained high during a double-day workout for Stanford on the 15th consecutive day of 2007 training camp on Monday. The day's activities began with an early morning practice that started at 8:30 am, PT. The second practice session wrapped up on a beautiful and warm night at 9 pm, PT.
'The defense in particular that I can speak for made an effort to put two [practices] together,' said an enthusiastic sophomore linebacker Tom McAndrew after the second workout. 'This was really the first time during camp that we were able to put together a morning and a night practice and string two together. We had to do that today for the first time. We took it as a challenge and a new opportunity. We really tried to rise to that.'
'For football players it's always fun to practice at night,' added McAndrew. 'It kind of reminds you of high school. Everybody always talks about `Friday Night Lights' and everything like that. Plus, we see it as a bonus during camp. Camp can be tough at times, but we're trying to keep the spirits up as high as possible, and they've [the coaching staff] done a really good job. One of the ways they've done it is giving us that rest during the middle of the day, so we can have two quality practices. We know that if they give us that rest there are higher expectations, and that's what we've been getting, hopefully.'
Stanford will practice just once on Tuesday with the team scheduled to hit the Elliott Football Practice Fields at 2:40 pm, PT. The workout is free of charge and open to the public.
Stanford opens the 2007 season versus UCLA at Stanford Stadium on Saturday, September 1 (12:30 pm, PT) in a game to be televised by FOX Sports Net.
