Aug. 20, 2007

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Washington men's golfers Nick Taylor and Darren Wallace completed the first round of stroke play at the 107th U.S. Amateur Championship, Monday.

Taylor and Wallace were among a good portion 222 competitors that were able to get in a full round as of 7:30 p.m. after the start of the first round was delayed by four hours due to fog. Taylor, fresh off winning the 2007 Canadian Men's Amateur title on Friday, shot even-par 70 on the Lakeside Course at the Olympic Club. He currently is tied for 12th, two strokes behind the leaders, but play was still not complete due to the earlier delay.

Wallace played the Ocean Course in the first round, carding a 4-over 74. He is currently tied for 78th place.
