Bears Fall to Cal Poly in Exhibition Game

SAN LUIS OBISPO - Behind a hat trick from freshman David Zamora, Cal Poly defeated No. 11 California, 3-1, in an exhibition game at Alex G. Spanos Stadium Tuesday night. Freshman Servando Carrasco scored the lone goal for the Golden Bears.

Carrasco's goal came in the 25th minute. He kicked a ball from 25 yards out over the outstretched hands of Mustang keeper Eric Branagan-Franco. Carrasco's goal tied the contest at one after Zamora notched his first goal of the night in the sixth minute.

Zamora recorded his other two goals in the second half to secure the win. The game-winning goal came in the 67th minute.

Sophomore Stefan Frei recorded four saves on the night while Franco had five of his own. Cal Poly out shot Cal 11-7 and had five corner kicks to the Bears' two.

The Bears open the regular season a week from Friday when they travel to San Diego to face USD at 3 p.m.
