No. 17 Cal Shuts Out Colorado College, 1-0

Sept. 2, 2007

BERKELEY, Calif. - Senior midfielder Caitlin Hannegan scored on a rebound shot in the 102nd minute to propel No. 17 California to a 1-0 victory over Colorado College Sunday at Edwards Stadium. With the win, the Golden Bears claimed the 13th-annual Cal Invitational and improved their record to 2-0. The Tigers fell to 0-1-1.

Cal freshman Megan Jesolva launched a 25-yard shot which Colorado College's goalkeeper Geneva Sills saved, but the ball rolled free in front of the goal. Hannegan pounced on the ball and converted her first goal of the season and second of her career.

Cal travels to the Saint Mary's Fall Soccer Classic next weekend. The Bears face Cal State Bakersfield Friday, Sept 7, at 2 p.m., and Vermont Sunday, Sept. 4, at noon.

A complete recap will follow soon.
