THIS WEEK: Washington State travels to Spokane for a 2 p.m. match Friday against Gonzaga...returns to Pullman for home opener against Utah, Sunday at noon.

COUGARS OVERCOME GRIZZLIES: Mallory Fox and Brooke Bemis scored second goals to lead Washington State past Montana 2-1 in Missoula, Aug. 31...Cougars outshot the Grizzlies 19-4...fourth-straight season-opening win for WSU...equaled road victory total of 2006...Cougars did not have a road win last season.

ABOUT GONZAGA: The Bulldogs (1-1-0) split a pair of matches last week, losing 2-0 at home to Idaho and defeating Montana 1-0 on the road...Christine Soma scored the Gonzaga goal against the Grizzlies.

WSU-GONZAGA SERIES: The Cougars are 15-0-1 all-time against the Bulldogs, including 4-0 in tied 0-0 last season in Pullman...Washington State has outscored Gonzaga 84-5.

ABOUT UTAH: The Utes opened with matches on the road against Arizona and Long Beach State...defeated the Wildcats 2-1 behind goals from Katy Reineke and Adele Letro...lost 1-0 in overtime to the 49ers.

MINDING THE NET: Brynn Bemis logged 90 minutes in goal for the Cougars in their win over Montana last week...raised her career total to 1,536 passing Nikki Johnson (1989-90) and Shannon Wilson (1997) for seventh on the WSU all-time list...has 71 saves to tie Kris Young (1991-94) for ninth on the Cougar career list.
