Sept. 5, 2007
SEATTLE - Accolades continued to roll in for Kevin Forrest this week, as the Husky senior forward was named to Soccer America's National Team of the Week, the online publication announced Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Forrest was tabbed the Pac-10 Player of the Week and was selected to Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week for his performance in the Huskies' season opening matches in last weekend's Nike Portland Invitational.
Forrest, from Edmonds, Wash., tallied his third career hat trick and added an assist in Washington's second game of the tournament - a 5-1 victory over Cal State Bakersfield, Sunday. Forrest scored the first of his three goals in the second minute of the match and then played a role in the next two scores in the 16th and 18th minutes. Forrest assisted the second goal scored by Ely Allen at 15:18 and then scored again at 17:20. His final goal came in the 84th minute.
Scoring the three goals, Sunday, moved him into UW's Top-10 career goals list where he ranks eighth (31). With 67 career points, Forrest needs 10 more to tie his father Ward for 10th on UW's all-time list for points.
The Huskies (1-0-1) play on the road this week, traveling to take on Gonzaga (1-1-0) in Spokane, Friday, Sept. 7, at 4 p.m.
