Marcel Reece Q&A

Sept. 6, 2007

In the last two games, dating bating to the Apple Cup, Marcel Reece has emerged as a Husky go-to receiver. He has amassed a team-high 157 in those games and looks to keep the momentum rolling during his senior season. You had a career game last year at the Apple Cup, how did that momentum carry on into this new season?
Marcel Reece:
It carried on into the winter - a great winter - winter turned into a great spring, spring turned into a great summer and summer carried on into a great fall camp. We've just been working hard. Not only as individuals but as a team. We've started off our win streak. Now we're at 2-0. Trying to get the win. That's what it's all about. Game to game, win to win and staying on top.

GH: How was Syracuse?
It was amazing. Going over the the East Coast, three hour time difference, all odds against us, all critics against us, playing hard. Now look around, everybody's walking around in the atmosphere of a win. Smiles on our faces, laughing. Just hands up and go into the next one.

GH: Back to the Syracuse game, the Dawgs got off to a little bit of a shaky start. How did you calm yourselves down to come out with the win?
It wasn't Jake that was shaky, it was me. It was all of us. We were all really pumped up, all really juiced. I missed my catch high a little bit and we usually make that play with our eyes closed. But I came back to the line, tapped him on the butt and said `My fault, let's go.'

GH: How was the atmosphere in the locker room after the win on Friday?
It was a Husky win atmosphere. We get pretty crazy and have a lot of fun after the wins. There's a lot of hugs and a lot of laughs and a lot of chants.

GH: Because you played Syracuse at their home field, how was it playing your first game of the season away?
It was difficult, but it's always difficult playing away. But it was also fun. It's the start of our opportunity. We have the toughest schedule in the nation, but if we win games they can't say anything.

GH: What are you looking forward to about the Boise State game this weekend?
A huge Husky crowd, everybody there, a lot of noise. But the noise is for us this time. There's no place to play better than Husky Stadium. We belong at Husky Stadium. It's just about defending our home.

GH: What can we expect from you this season?
Just to be the best. I want to be the best there is. That's what we all play for. We all play to be the best. Not just the best on the team but the best in the Pac-10. Not just the best in the Pac-10 but the best in the nation. That's why we always make each other better; because we're always competing with each other. It's a great competition; a friendly competition; a family competition.

GH: Thanks so much for your time and good luck with the rest of the season!
