Cougar Sports Radio Network Adds Portland Affiliate KCMD-AM
Sept. 7, 2007
PULLMAN, Wash. - The Cougars Sports Radio Network has added KCMD-AM (AM 970 Solid State Radio) in Portland, Ore., to its network of affiliates that broadcast Cougar football, CSRN Director Roger Nelson announced Friday.
'Finding a partner to broadcast Cougar football games in the Portland-Vancouver area has been a high priority for us since the end of last season,' said Nelson, who oversees the 25-station network which reaches from British Columbia to Oregon. 'KCMD is an integral addition to our network and allows WSU fans and alumni in the area to follow the Cougars each week.'
KCMD will air its first Cougar football game this Saturday when WSU hosts San Diego State in the annual Cougar Gridiron Classic, presented by Washington's Beef Producers, at Qwest Field. Gametime is set for 4 p.m., with the Cougar network pregame show beginning at 3 p.m.
The agreement between CSRN and KCMD is currently for one season in which KCMD will broadcast Cougar football games only. KCMD will not carry the weekly Bill Doba coach's show, which airs on the network each Tuesday evening, nor will it broadcast any Cougar men's basketball games.
KCMD's unique collection of on-air personalities includes Portland-based Rick Emerson, along with Dennis Miller, Stephanie Miller, Tom Leykis, and the Don & Mike Show. KCMD is owned and operated by CBS RADIO, one of the largest radio operators in the United States with stations covering news, rock, country, FM talk, classic rock and urban formats, among others. A division of CBS Corporation, CBS RADIO operates 144 radio stations, the majority of which are in the top 50 markets.
In addition to the Cougar Sports Radio Network, Cougar fans looking to listen to the broadcast can hear the game live at www.wsucougars.com or on XM Satellite radio.
