Men's Golf Holds Seventh After Day One of Falcon Invitational

USAFA, Colo. - The California men's golf team had a solid opening day for its fall campaign as it holds seventh place after day one of the Falcon Invitational hosted by the U.S. Air Force Academy at Eisenhower Golf Club. Junior George Gandranata leads the Golden Bears with a two-round 142 (-2).
Cal opened with a 292 and closed the day with a 293 for an overall 585 (+9). UTEP leads the event at 556 (-20), followed by Wichita State (566, -10) and Iowa State (569, -7). Xavier is in fourth place at 570 (-6).
Gandranata opened the event with a 73, but then fired an impressive 69 in round two to finish the day two strokes below par to tie for 11th place. Freshman Stephen Hale is in a tie for 26th place after following his opening round 70 with a 73. Sophomore Andrey Mindirgasov shot a 74-73 to finish at 147. Senior Freddy Wolfe (151) and freshman Feldman Tan (152) round out the players for the Golden Bears.
The final round of the event will begin at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday.
