Cal Opens Season at Ram Fall Classic

BERKELEY, Calif. - The California women's golf team opens the 2007-08 season at the 10th-annual Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 10-11, at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo. Thirty-six holes will be played on Monday and 18 holes are slated for Tuesday.
The 20-team field includes Baylor, Cal, Colorado, Eastern Washington, Weber State, Washington State, Idaho, Campbell, Long Beach State, Fresno State, Montana State, Portland State, Nevada, Texas Tech, San Jose State, BYU, Wyoming, Gonzaga and UTEP.
Cal's lineup features (in order): junior Shannon Yocum (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.), freshman Pia Halbig (Maintal, Germany), junior Allison Goodman (San Diego, Calif.) and sophomores Roseanne Niven (Perth, Scotland) and Sofia Janer (Bogota, Colombia).
At the 2006 Ram Fall Classic, Cal tied for sixth with Eastern Washington with a 54-hole score of 896. Colorado took top honors among the 17 teams with a score of 872.
Last season, Cal earned its eighth straight NCAA regional selection and finished in 19th place at the NCAA West Regional.
