Adams Named Pac-10 Player of the Week
Sept. 11, 2007
LOS ANGELES - After scoring five goals in two matches over the weekend, UCLA midfielder/forward Danesha Adams was named this week's Pac-10 Player of the Week, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced on Tuesday. For her efforts, Adams was also named to the Soccer Buzz Team of the Week.
Adams, a senior from Shaker Heights, Ohio, began her outstanding week by tallying a hat trick (three goals) in the Bruins' 4-2 victory over Illinois on Friday. It marked the first hat trick by a Bruin player since Nov. 25, 2005, when Adams scored four goals in a 5-0 win over Virginia in the NCAA Quarterfinals. She came back on Sunday to score two more goals in a 3-0 UCLA victory over San Francisco, giving her 10 points on the week.
With her two exceptional performances, Adams moved into second place on the UCLA career scoring charts with 112 points. She entered the week with 102 points, just two Iris Mora, who had 104 from 2002-05. Adams now ranks second only to Traci Arkenberg, who had 169 from 1994-97.
It marks the second Pac-10 Player of the Week honor for Adams and the 18th all time for UCLA.
