'She was getting good swings tonight,' commented UW head coach Jim McLaughlin on Perry's play.
'As a team I thought we played pretty good. We made a couple of errors on tough situations. We just need to simplify things and be aggressive. They [Northern Florida] served awfully well and it caused us some problems, but once we stabilized things we were good.'
Jenna Hagglund paced the Huskies with 17 assists, and also had seven digs, Alison Simmons added 14 assists and five digs, and Tamari Miyashiro led all players with 21 digs. Also for the Huskies, Kindra Carlson had seven kills and Shantell Durrant led UW with five total blocks.
Northern Florida was led by Kavie Sturch and Amy Stroder, who had six kills apiece. Sturch added eight digs, while Claire Yonutas had a team-high nine assists.
Washington continues play in the UNF/JU Classic tomorrow when they take on the other tournament host, Jacksonville, at 4 p.m. The Dolphins (4-7) defeated Bethune Cookman, 3-0, earlier today. That match was not a part of the tournament.
