The Cougars' leader, Faleti, had not played in the past four matches because of a bruised knee. Tara West had four blocks and Kelly Hyder led all players with 14 digs. Maureen Perez had 29 assists. Stephanie Weishaar had the lone Cougar ace. Jackie Albright added nine kills and 11 assists.
Ohio hit .278 as a team and held WSU to a .081 hitting percentage. The Bobcats tallied 11 blocks to WSU's five blocks.
'We did not play very well tonight,' WSU Head Coach Brian Heffernan said. 'Ohio served us very aggressively and kept us out of rhythm offensively by driving us deep into our court. We did not serve very well tonight and allowed them to stay in system and created a situation where we were out of system offensively and they were in system offensively. I felt that as a team we did not fight very hard tonight and need to do a much better job collectively of playing more aggressively as a team and with a greater sense of urgency on our side of the net.'
Saturday at the Pioneer Classic tournament, the Cougars face Long Beach State at 10 a.m. MT and Denver at 7:30 p.m. MT.
