Volleyball Falls To #5 UCLA

Sept. 21, 2007

TEMPE, Ariz. - Even with Sarah Reaves's 12 kills and Sydney Donahue collecting 15 digs, the Sun Devil Volleyball team wasn't able to top the #5 UCLA Bruins Friday night in Los Angeles at Pauley Pavilion as the Bruins swept ASU 30-18, 30-21 and 30-25. The Sun Devils are now 8-7 on the year and 0-2 in Pac-10 play while UCLA advances to 12-1 and 2-0 in conference play.

The Bruins came out red hot in game one, with a .410 attack percentage and Ali Daley leading the way with seven kills as UCLA took a 30-18 win. Sarah Reaves led the Sun Devil's attack in game two with six kills along with Marina Mercer's eight assists, but the Bruins were able to run off with a 30-21 win. Game three saw ASU fire back with Margie Giordano's seven kills, but the Bruins were too much for the Sun Devils as Rachell Johnson led UCLA with six kills to a 30-25 win to end the match.

The Sun Devils will now head back to Tempe to open their home Pac-10 slate next weekend as they take on Oregon and OregonState next Thursday and Friday, September 27 and 28, both at 7 p.m. at ASU's Wells Fargo Arena.
