Sept. 24, 2007

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's soccer team (4-3-0) travels to Albuquerque, N.M., to take on the New Mexico Lobos at the UNM Soccer Complex Tuesday. Game time is set for 7 p.m. MT (6 p.m. local time).

The Sun Devils enter Tuesday night's game having won three of their last four contests. In their most recent outing, the Sun Devils fell to the top-ranked Santa Clara Broncos, 1-0. The Sun Devils held the Broncos scoreless through the first half of play, but gave up the lone goal in the first minute of the second half.

'We need to get this game past us,' ASU head coach Kevin Boyd said. 'We need to learn our lesson and move on and start focusing on New Mexico. We need to rest some of our players, let them recover and get them ready to go for Tuesday.'

For ASU, Friday night's loss to Santa Clara represented the second time this season that it was within striking distance of a major upset. Earlier this month the Sun Devils dropped another 1-0 match to second-ranked Texas.

Offensively, seven different Sun Devils have netted goals this season. Sophomore Carly Kallas and freshman Karin Volpe are tied for the team lead with two. Volpe leads the team in points with five.

Defensively, the Sun Devils have posted three shutouts so far this season. Sophomore goalkeeper Briana Silvestri is currently tied for first in the Pac-10 in shutouts (3). Her seven saves at UNLV is currently tied for the conference high this season.

Following their game against New Mexico, the Sun Devils return to Tempe for a five-game home stand at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium beginning with the San Diego State Aztecs on Friday at 7 p.m.
