Washington's Stevie Mussie Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Washington's outside hitter Stevie Mussie has been named the Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 17- 23, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Mussie, a senior from Puyallup, Wash., had a season-best 27 kills in the No. 8 Washington's 3-2 win over No. 24 Oregon, after coming back from a 2-0 game deficit. Mussie's 15 of 27 kills and seven of her nine digs occurred in the last three games.

Against Oregon State, Mussie led all players with 20 kills, and added nine digs as Washington swept the Beavers, 3-0. In this match, Mussie hit .390 helping the Huskies' hit a season-best .446.

For the week, Mussie hit .343 with 47 kills (5.58 kpg), and added 18 digs (2.25 dpg).

This is the first weekly honor for Mussie, and Washington's 21st Pac-10 Player of the Week all-time.
