Bruch, Wire, Clayton Receive ITA Pre-Season Ranking

Junior Matt Bruch, sophomore Richard Wire and freshman Alex Clayton have been ranked in the pre-season Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings while Bruch and teammate Blake Muller are ranked among the nation's best doubles teams. Bruch is ranked No. 36, followed by Wire at No. 48 and Clayton at No. 11. Bruch and Muller check in at No. 2
Bruch, from Lake Forest, IL, won his second straight Pac-10 championship a year in a season that saw him compete in just 15 singles matches due to injury. He and Muller won the Pac-10 doubles title and finished 16-3 in 2007.
Wire, of Essex, England, earned second-team all Pac-10 honors last season and won nine of his final 13 duel matches last year as he played No. 1 singles most of the year for the injured Bruch.
Clayton, from Plantation, Fla, won the 2005 U.S. National Junior Clay Court Championship and is a two-time U.S. Junior National Championship quarterfinalist. He begins in collegiate career at Stanford as one of the most highly-touted freshman in the nation.
