Burduli to Compete at ITA All-American Championship

Ekaterina Burduli will represent the Washington State women's tennis team at the ITA All-American Championship Pre-Qualifying round Sept. 29-30, at UCLA.

Burduli will have to win three matches in order to advance to the Qualifying round which will be held Oct. 2-3.

Eight players will advance from the Pre-Qualifying round to compete in the Qualifying round. From the Qualifying round eight players will advance to compete in the Main Round, which will be held Oct. 4-7 in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

'We are proud of Eka's accomplishments to date,' Washington State University Head Coach Lisa Hart said. 'We are excited for this opportunity for her. She is well prepared and ready to compete at the tournament.'

Last weekend Burduli captured four victories on route to winning the No. 1 singles title at the Cougar classic. The four wins pushes her career total to 67, which is good for ninth all time in WSU history.

A year ago Burduli advanced to the Qualifying round of the ITA All-American Championship, but could not make it out of the first round before losing to Wisconsin's Caitlin Burke, 6-4, 6-4.

Burduli's first match, against Tory Zawacki of Duke, is scheduled for Saturday Sept. 29, at noon.
