Alex Clayton Advances in Qualifying Round at All-Americans

Stanford freshman Alex Clayton won his first match for the Cardinal as he defeated Kiril Dimitrov of Duke in the opening qualifying round at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Clayton, from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., won his match, 6-3, 6-3 to advance to tomorrow's second round.
Sophomore Richard Wire and junior Blake Muller were defeated in today's opening round of qualifying singles play. Wire, ranked No. 48 in the country, lost to Sam Chang of Florida State, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 while Muller was beaten 6-0, 6-3 by Oliver Sajous of Florida Atlantic.
In tomorrow's action, Clayton will face Max Jones of New Mexico. In the qualifying doubles round, Clayton and Wire will play Lee Singer and Sanam Singh of Virginia
