Jackson, Brown, Weber Named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Football Players of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Wide receiver DeSean Jackson of California,cornerback Trey Brown of UCLA and kicker Thomas Weber of Arizona State, have been named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Football Players of the Week.

Jackson, a senior from Long Beach, Calif., provided the big plays onoffense in California's 31-24 road win at Oregon. Jackson pulled in11 receptions for 161 yards (14.6), both career highs, including twotouchdown passes covering 25 and 31 yards. In addition to Pac-10player of the week honors, he was named national Offensive Player ofthe Week by the Walter Camp Foundation. It marked the second Pac-10player of the week honors for Jackson this year, having previouslybeen named for special teams work in California's win against Tennessee.

Brown, a senior from Overland Park, Kan., came up with the big playson defense in UCLA's 40-14 road win at Oregon State. Brownintercepted two passes and made eight tackles, seven solo, as theUCLA defense limited Oregon State to 248 yards total offense (102rushing, 146 passing) and forced five turnovers.

Weber, a freshman from Downey, Calif., was a perfect four-of-four onfield goals in Arizona State's 41-3 win at Stanford. Weber connectedfrom 41, 32, 38 and 18 yards. He also was perfect on three PATs toaccount for 15 points in the game. Weber also kicked off nine timeswith two touchbacks and Stanford averaging just 13.0 yards on returns.

Others nominated for offensive player of the week honors were runningback Nicholas Grigsby of Arizona and wide receivers Rudy Burgess ofArizona State and Brandon Breazell of UCLA. Also nominated ondefense were linebackers Spencer Larsen of Arizona, Anthony Felder ofCalifornia and Rey Maualuga of USC and end Dexter Davis of ArizonaState. Punter Andrew Larsen of California was nominated for specialteams play.
