Farah had entered the main draw as a qualifier after picking up three wins during qualifying rounds. He will face TCU's Cosmin Cotet at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
Farah opened the morning with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Michigan State's Nick Rinks to move into the second round.
