Clayton advances to quarterfinals with victory at All-American Championships

Alex Clayton advanced to the quarterfinals today with a 6-1, 7-5 win over unseeded Philippe Frayssinoux of Mississippi Stateat the All-American Championships in the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The freshman from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla improved his flawless record with the Cardinal to 6-0. Clayton will play fourth seeded senior Travis Helgeson of Georgia tomorrow. Clayton is the sole Cardinal remaining in the tournament after highly ranked doubles team Matt Bruch and Blake Muller lost their opening match yesterday evening.

Second seeded juniors Bruch and Muller were eliminated when they lost 9-7 in the first round to Alex Conjanu and Keziel Juneau from William & Mary.

Clayton earned his way to the main draw with three victories in the three days in the qualifiers. Clayton won his opening match against Robbye PoolOf Mississippi, 6-2, 6-3 Thursday morning before scoring a comeback victory over Denes Lukacs of Baylor, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 later that day.
