Oct. 5, 2007
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - The University of Washington swimming teams swept by Seattle University on Friday afternoon in a non-conference meet held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. The UW men downed Seattle, 151-99, while the Husky women won, 143-101. It was the opening meet of the season for both schools.
UW freshman Ariana Kukors swam to a school record time in her first meet as a Husky. In the first event of the day, Kukors opened the meet up as the lead leg on the UW 4x100 Medley Relay team, and swam a 54.00 in the 100 backstroke, which set a new Washington record and also met an NCAA qualifying time. The previous school record was 54.81, set by Desiree Johnson in 2004.
An extended story will follow later.
