Arizona State Men's Tennis Team Continues Play at the Pre-Regional Tournament.

The Arizona State men's tennis team continued play at the Pre-Regional Tournament in Irvine, Calif. over the weekend. The Sun Devils have gone 1-2 over the weekend.

On Friday, the Sun Devils dropped a close match to the Loyola Marymount Lions. Wes Miller handily defeated Sam Tadevosian 6-3, 6-0 to secure his victory in the No. 1 spot. Freshman Paul Chappell continued to remain undefeated on the season with a victory over Nick Von Der Ahe in the No. 5 spot.

Jack Marsh and Murilo Souza each dropped two close sets to fall to Ivan Lopez and Stefan Nikolic respectively. Patrick Brogan also dropped two close sets as he was defeated 7-6, 7-6 by Renzo Maggi.

In doubles, the team of Miller and Chappell battled hard, but were defeated 8-6 by Jacek Twarowski and Johan Berhof.

On Saturday, the Sun Devils won their first match of the season with a 4-3 victory over UC Irvine. In the No. 1 spot, Miller defeated Trevor Dobson, 6-4, 6-4 for his third win of the season. Souza picked up his first win of the season with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Zac Tsai in the No. 4 position. Chappell continued to remain undefeated as he handily beat Stephen Stege 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 5 spot.

T.J. Bellama dropped two close sets, 6-4, 6-4 to Victor Lamm. Jack Marsh was forced to retire to Khunpol Issara. Brogan took Alex Sunding to three sets, but fell 3-6, 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles, the Sun Devils won both their matches. The team of Miller and Chappell defeated Issara and Dobson 8-5 while the duo of Bellama and Souza handily defeated Sundling and Gautam Vaidyanthan 8-2.

The Sun Devils finish play at the Pre-Regional Tournament today against UC-Riverside.
