Danielle Lawrie Blog #4
Oct. 8, 2007
Washington junior Danielle Lawrie is currently pitching for the Canadian National Women's Softball Team as the team gears up for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. She will periodically be writing a blog to keep Husky fans up on her national team experiences. In this entry, Lawrie writes about the team arriving in China and the adventures they have had so far there.
Well, training has officially begun. We had a day to get ourselves settled in and then it was time to hit the softball field. Thankfully, I am slowly starting to get on a sleeping pattern and not waking up early early in the AM wide awake. Same old food ... rice and spaghetti, although I will say the food is much better than last time.
Training started Tuesday and if all goes well we will train until Monday. We have been practicing twice a day, starting early in the AM and then again in the afternoon. We had our first scrimmage on Wednesday, it went really well. After the scrimmage we took the afternoon off to head to the Great Wall! We ended up going to a different part of the wall than the previous summer so it was nice to see something new! Wow what a workout walking the stairs though!
As for today, unfortunately the weather is really bad right now, so it looks like we are going to have to fully take the day off! Today will be fun ... We are heading to the silk market..for those who don't know this is the big shopping center that we go too. Bargain, Bargain!! I will let you all know how things are going as soon as we are back on the softball field again.. Hope all is well in Seattle..
Best Regards from China,
