USC Goalkeeper Kristin Olsen Named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Oct. 15, 2007
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- USC sophomore goalkeeper Kristin Olsen has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 9-15, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Olsen, from Orange, Calif., recorded her fifth and sixth shutouts of the year as the Women of Troy extended their winning streak to six games and their unbeaten streak to eight games.
The sophomore recorded three saves in USC's first win of the weekend, a 1-0 victory over Oregon, and tallied two saves in a 5-0 win over Oregon State.
Olsen, the goalkeeper of record for all of USC's matches, leads the Pac-10 in shutouts. During USC's current winning streak, she has allowed only one goal - in a USC upset win over then-No. 2 Portland.
USC (10-1-1) has not lost a match since losing at Indiana on Sept. 9. The Women of Troy will face their toughest tests of the young Pac-10 season as they travel to No. 18 California (8-3-0) on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and No. 2 Stanford (10-1-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
This is Olsen's first weekly honor of her career and the 18th all-time award for the Women of Troy. Amy Rodriguez was the last player from USC to receive the award, when she was honored Nov. 8, 2005.
