AROUND THE LEAGUE:
Through two weeks of Conference play, SAN DIEGO STATE (3-0-0, 7-2-2) is the Pac-10 frontrunner with nine points on three wins for sole possession of first place in the league ... The Aztecs, who haven't lost a game in eight matches dating back to early September, took on No. 8 CALIFORNIA (2-2-0, 7-4-1), on Friday, snapping the Golden Bears' six-game unbeaten streak in a 3-2 win ... SDSU then took on No. 21 STANFORD (1-1-2, 4-3-5) on Sunday, defeating the Cardinal in a 2-0 shutout, breaking their six-game unbeaten streak, as well ... The Aztecs' current eight-game unbeaten streak is tied for the sixth-longest single-season unbeaten streak in the program's 39-year history ... Further, San Diego State is 5-0-3 in its last eight Pac-10 games ... They have not lost a Pac-10 match since Oct. 8, 2006, when they played with 10 men for most of the game in a 2-1 loss to the Bruins ... OREGON STATE (1-2-0, 4-7-0) picked up its first Conference win on the year in a 2-1 overtime defeat at WASHINGTON (0-2-1, 5-5-2) ... JR F Josh Cameron had a hand in both Beaver goals as he gave OSU the early 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute ... He then found SR MF Mason Webb for the golden goal in overtime, bringing his weekend total to three points ... Washington SR F Ely Allen scored the team's lone goal with an equalizer on a penalty kick in the 44th minute ... It was Allen's fourth goal of the season, which ranks him second on the team to SR F Kevin Forrest (6) ... The contest with Oregon State also marked the fourth time in the last five games that UW has played to overtime, with the Huskies going 1-2-1 in those games ... UCLA (1-1-1, 5-5-2) went unbeaten on the weekend, taking nationally-ranked Stanford to a 0-0 double-overtime tie on Friday and defeating eighth-ranked California 1-0 on Sunday ... SO GK Brian Perk recorded two shutouts on the weekend, notching three saves against 21 shots ... Perk decreased his goals against average to 0.88, and he now has five shutouts on the year with 51 saves ... Perk has also helped the Bruins remain unbeaten at home this year with a 4-0-1 record ... Statistically speaking, Stanford SR GK Andrew Kartunen leads the Pac-10 in goals against average with a 0.56 mark, having given up just five scores all year ... California SO GK Stefan Frei still paces the league in saves (56), saves percentage (.848), saves per game (4.67) and is tied for the league lead in shutouts (5) ... California, Oregon State and Washington are at home this weekend, while San Diego State and UCLA take to the road for a Pacific Northwest tour, and Stanford heads across the Bay for its traditional rival game.
