With league leaders STANFORD and WASHINGTON splitting a pair of matches last weekend, the Pac-10 race gets interesting with four teams within a game of each other. CALIFORNIA now finds itself just two games back after winning four straight... Three matches went five games last week. That's now a total of seven Pac-10 matches that have gone the distance this season. There were only eight Pac-10 matches that went five games last season... UCLA looks to keep pace with the league leaders as it travels to Washington for this week's FSN televised match. Paul Sunderland calls the action, while Holly McPeak and Karch Kiraly provide commentary... Six Pac-10 teams continue to make their presence felt in the CSTV/AVCA Top 25, including five among the Top 10 - No. 3 Stanford, No. 4 USC, No. 5 Washington, No. 7 UCLA, No. 9 California, and No. 19 OREGON.

PAC-10 NOTES: ARIZONA endured it's second straight sweep, losing to Arizona State, 0-3. Leading the Wildcats was senior MB Dominique Lamb who posted a team-high 15 kills on .591 hitting. Junior OH Randy Goodenough posted 12 kills and junior OH Brook Buringrud tallied 10 kills. Junior L Brittany Leonard finished with a team-best 12 digs while freshman S Paige Weber tallied 44 assists... ARIZONA STATE freshman OH Sarah Reaves had 20 kills and junior OH Margie Giordano followed with 13 kills as ASU swept rival Arizona. Reaves hit .459 on the night while both Giordano and senior L Sydney Donahue hauled in 12 digs apiece. The Sun Devils hit .351 while keeping the Wildcats at .280... CALIFORNIA upset No. 8 Washington on Thursday giving the Huskies their first lost of the season. Senior All-American OH Angie Pressey led the Golden Bears with match-high 25 kills. It was the first time Cal had defeated Washington since Oct. 24, 2003 in Seattle. Sophomore OH Hana Cutura added 21 kills and a career-high 16 digs. Sophomore L Kristen Kathan had a team-high 22 digs, and senior MH Ellen Orchard finished with 16 kills. Freshman S Carli Lloyd recorded 65 assists with 12 digs. In two matches over the weekend, Orchard combined to hit .510 with 27 kills in 47 attempts with just three errors... OREGON dropped both matches this weekend to No. 4 UCLA and No. 6 USC. Against the Bruins, Oregon sophomore OH Sonja Newcombe had a match-high and career-best 24 kills, hitting .310 while adding 14 digs for her fifth double-double of the year. Junior OH Gorana Maricic, currently eighth in the nation in kills per game, totaled 21 in the match, and added 12 digs for her eighth double-double of the year. Against USC, Maricic led Oregon with 14 kills, while freshman Heather Meyers produced a team-leading hitting percentage of .318 (12-5-22), while also adding six blocks. All five of Oregon's losses in the Pac-10 have come to top 10 teams... OREGON STATE sophomore OH Rachel Rourke picked up her 16th double-digit kills match in the loss to No. 6 USC in three games. The Beavers ended an 18-game, six-match losing streak as they defeated No. 4 UCLA, 3-2. It was OSU's first win at UCLA since 2000. Sophomore S Camilla Ah-Hoy earned her third career double-double with 38 assists and a career-high 17 digs. Rourke recorded her eighth 20-plus kills match of the season and junior L Ashley Evans recorded a career-best 32 digs, setting the fourth best single-match record in school history... STANFORD had its 17-match winning streak snapped with a five-game loss to Washington. In the loss to the Huskies, junior OH Cynthia Barboza pushed her career kill total to 1,003. Senior S Bryn Kehoe placed her name at the top of Stanford's list for career assists. She posted 62 assists vs. Washington, pushing her total to a 5,023. That figure currently places her seventh all-time in the Pac-10... UCLA Junior Ali Daley registered her first career 20-20 match, posting personal highs with 26 kills and 25 digs in the five-game setback to Oregon State, Daley's 20-20 match was the first for a Bruin since Ashley Bowles on Nov. 2, 2001. The Bruins lost for just the third time in 44 matches against the Oregon State. UCLA was also previously 20-1 at home against Oregon State. Junior L Jade Machado posted a career-high 29 digs against Oregon State... USC moved to within one game of the league leaders after sweeping Oregon State and Oregon last week. The Women of Troy posted a season-high 16.0 blocks in the win over Oregon. Their previous season-high was 13.0 blocks accomplished four times this season. Senior MB Bethany Johansen posted seven blocks against Oregon. It was the fifth time this season she's collected six or more blocks in a match, and the third time in the last five matches. Senior OH Diane Copenhagen (abdominal strain) and junior MB Kelli Tennant (lower back) continue to be week-to-week... WASHINGTON senior OH Christal Morrison's 21 kills at California were a season-best for the senior All-American. She followed that with 19 kills and 13 digs in the victory at Stanford. In the win at Stanford, the Huskies had a season-best 91 digs. Their previous high was 62. Four UW players reached double-digits in digs, led by Tamari Miyashiro's career-high 37, which marked a season-best for the Huskies. Miyashiro needs seven digs to reach 1,000 for her career... WASHINGTON STATE senior OH Adetokunbo Faleti hit .400 with 15 kills on 35 attempts with just one error in the loss to Stanford. Sophomore L Kelly Hyder is quickly approaching 1,000 digs for her career. She needs 88 more to reach a milestone achieved by only six other Cougars. WSU looks to snap a 10-match losing streak in which they've posted just four game wins during that stretch.
