Oct. 26, 2007
STANFORD, Calif.- Fans can get an early look at this year's men's basketball team on Saturday, Oct. 27, during an open scrimmage scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Maples Pavilion.
The Cardinal returns 12 letterwinners and all five starters from last year's squad and has been tabbed as a top-25 club by several preseason publications.
Earlier today, Stanford was ranked No. 21 in the ESPN/USA Today Preseason Top 25 Coaches poll. The Cardinal is one of six Pac-10 teams appearing in the poll.
Stanford's top five scorers from last year's club are all back once again, led by junior forward Lawrence Hill, the Cardinal's All-Pac-10 selection who averaged a team-high 15.7 ppg and 6.0 rpg in 31 starts last season.
Stanford begins the year on Nov. 5 with an exhibition game against Concordia University. The season opener is slated for Nov. 9 against Harvard in the first game of the Basketball Travelers Classic.
