Huskies Tied For 11th After Opening Day Of Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Sophomore Christina Yoon shot a 1-over 73 to lead the Husky women's golf team during the first round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown held at Angel Park Mountain Golf Course, Monday.
Washington shot a first-round score of 13-over 301 and is tied for 11th with BYU. The Huskies sit two strokes behind 10th place TCU (11-over 299) and three strokes behind ninth-place New Mexico (10-over 298). Tennessee leads the team standings at 6-under 282, followed by the other two squads to card rounds under par - Denver (3-under 285) and Arizona (1-under 287).
Yoon is tied for 19th place after a round in which she sank two birdies on the front nine. Sophomore Molly Aronsson is just one shot behind Yoon, carding a 2-over 74 in the first round. She is tied for 27th and followed by fellow Huskies Nicole Ferrero (tied-51st, 4-over 76), Karinn Dickinson (tied for 65, 6-over 78) and Molly Boyle (tied for 81st, 9-over 81).
Tennessee's Marci Turner and Denver's Katie Kempter lead the individual standings after the duo shot an opening round score of 5-under 76. They were among nine players in the field to shoot under par.
The second round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown continues Tuesday with the second round. The 54-hole tournament wraps up on Wednesday.
