Men's Golf To Take On CordeValle Collegiate
Nov. 2, 2007
The No. 7 USC men's golf team concludes its fall schedule at the 2007 CordeValle Collegiate from Monday to Wednesday (Nov. 5-7) at the CordeValle C.C. in San Martin, Calif.
USC has finished third in its past two tournaments at the Ping/Golfweek Fall Preview and the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate Invitational. USC was eighth in its first event, the Inverness Intercollegiate. Troy was second at the UCLA-hosted CordeValle last year.
Sophomore Jamie Lovemark, the defending NCAA individual champion, again leads the Trojans in stroke average at 70.83. After debuting last month with a tie for sixth at the Ping/Golfweek Fall Preview, he followed it with a second-place effort at the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate. His opening-round 68 is USC's lone sub-70 round this season. An All-American first teamer as a freshman, Lovemark missed USC's season-opener while representing the United States at the Walker Cup.
Junior Tom Glissmeyer is averaging 72.44 after three events this fall. He posted a season-best tie for seventh at the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate. He also tied for 14th at the Inverness Intercollegiate and tied for 16th at the Fall Preview.
Sophomore Rory Hie is averaging 73.11. He tied Lovemark for sixth at the Fall Preview, tied for 20th at the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate and tied for 30th at the Inverness Intercollegiate.
Freshman Tim Sluiter is next on the team with a stroke average of 73.67. He tied for 11th at the Fall Preview, tied for 14th at the Inverness Intercollegiate and tied for 58th at the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate.
Redshirt freshman Bo DeHuff and freshman Gavin Reid both played at the Inverness Intercollegiate, finishing tied for 50th and 71st, respectively. Freshman Daniel Park played at the Fall Preview, tying for 55th. Reid also was 83rd at the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate.
