Nov. 3, 2007
TEMPE, Ariz. - California women's tennis freshman Marina Cossou won her fourth consecutive match today to advance to the final round of the 13th Annual ASU Thunderbird Invitational. Cossou defeated Golden Bear teammate junior Claire Ilcinkas in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3 in the quarterfinal to meet Arizona State's Laila Abdala in the semis. Cossou continued her strong play through the next round and took out Abdala in two sets, 6-2, 6-3.
Junior Bojana Bobusic met a familiar foe in her quarterfinal. Having defeated Stanford's Jennifer Yen once at the Saint-Mary's Invitational, Bobusic used her experience to oust Yen in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
