WSU Defeats LCSC in Exhibition Game, 80-42

PULLMAN, Wash. - With its first-ever preseason ranking in tow, Washington State University men's basketball took care of its first competition of the season with an 80-42 victory over Lewis-Clark State College Sunday evening in the team's lone exhibition game of the season.
Thirteen of the 14 Cougars suited up put points on the board, led by three post players with double digits. Junior Daven Harmeling led all scorers with 17 points, followed by his classmates Caleb Forrest with 13 and Aron Baynes with 10. Harmeling went 7-of-8 from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range.
As a team WSU dished out 22 assists, led by the backcourt duo of senior Kyle Weaver and junior Taylor Rochestie with six and five, respectively. Weaver also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and chipped in eight points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field.Mike Gordy led the Warriors with 13 points, while Dorian Watson put up 10 points for LCSC.
Although LCSC scored first in the game off a 3-pointer by Watson, WSU scored 11 unanswered in the opening three and a half minutes for an 11-3 lead. The Cougars went on to a 39-21 halftime lead off 56-percent shooting in the opening period. WSU held LCSC to 27-percent shooting in the second half, outscoring its opponent, 41-21 for an 80-42 victory.
