Freshmen Steven Starks and Derek Roth finished 1-2 on the men's platform while freshman Christine Petrilli and senior Kim Popp were second and third, respectively, on the women's platform to lead the USC men's and women's diving teams on the final day of the 2007 Trojan Diving Invitational at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium on Saturday (Nov. 3).
Starks won the platform with 335.95 points while Roth was second with 313.60.
Petrilli was second on women's platform with 259.15, just behind first-place Tess Schofield of UCLA, who won with 262.30 (Schofield is also the Pac-10 defending champion on platform). Popp was third (235.40).
All four of the above USC divers qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships in March of 2008. The Zone meet serves as the qualifying event for the 2008 NCAA Championships.
Starks' and Roth's platform point totals both were NCAA Zone qualifying marks. So was Petrilli's effort on platform and Popp's performance on 3-meter on Friday.
