Soccer's Oldenkamp and Elston Earn All-Pac-10 Honors

Nov. 15, 2007

TEMPE, Ariz. - Alissa Oldenkamp, a senior midfielder on the Arizona State women's soccer team, has been named to the All-Pac-10 First Team the conference announced Thursday. As one of the most consistent members of the 2007 squad, Oldenkamp helped lead ASU to a 4-4-1 conference record and 10-9-1 overall.

Freshman midfielder Alexandra Elston also received honors as she was named to the All-Pac-10 Freshman Team. She is the first Sun Devil freshman to be named to the all-freshman team since both Elizabeth Bogus and Manya Makoski earned the honors in 2002.

Oldenkamp, of Chanlder, Ariz., earned her first career Pac-10 honors to close out her Sun Devil career. This season she was second on the team in assists (3) and tied for fourth in goals (2) and points (7). Her career stats include 74 games played, five goals, 12 assists and 22 points. Oldenkamp has also had great success in the classroom as she was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII First Team this season and is now eligible for Academic All-America honors. In addition, Oldenkamp has received All-Pac-10 Academic honors the past two seasons.

Elston, a Phoenix native, came on strong as the Pac-10 season opened. She scored game-winning goals in overtime in consecutive weekends of Pac-10 play (vs. Washington St. on Oct. 14 and at Oregon St. on Oct. 21). Overall, she scored three goals and had one assist totaling seven points in the first season of her Sun Devil career.

Oldenkamp's selection to the conference team means ASU has had at least one of its players selected to the Pac-10's first team each of the last eight seasons. All told, Oldenkamp is the seventh different Sun Devil to earn a place on the first team and gives the program its 13th first team honoree. She joins previous selections Stacey Tullock (1998, 1999, 2000 & 2001), Amy LePeilbet (2001, 2002 & 2003), Elizabeth Bogus (2002 & 2005), Manya Makoski (2004), Brittany Cooper (2005) and Kim Bingham (2006) as the Sun Devils to have earned the honor.
