Bixler Named Co-Pac-10 Golfer Of The Month

WALNUT CREEK, Calif - Zach Bixler of Washington and Kevin Chappell of UCLA have been named Pacific-10 Conference Co-Golfers of the Month for October/November 2007.
Bixler, a senior from Richland, Wash., tied the NCAA and Pac-10 single-round record by shooting a 60 in the second round of the Alister McKenzie Invitational. He became just the sixth player to shoot a 60 in a collegiate tournament. He tallied top 10 finishes in three tournaments, including a runnerup finish in the Husky Invitational. Bixler was Washington's top finisher in three of four tournaments and led the Huskies to second-place finishes in the Alister McKenzie Invitational and the Husky Invitational.
Chappell, a senior from Fresno, Calif., led UCLA to wins in three consecutive tournaments. He was second in the Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge and fourth in the CordeValle Collegiate, both UCLA wins, and was 4-0-0 in match play to lead the Bruins to victory in the Callaway Golf Collegiate Match Play. Chappell's scoring average of 71.2 leads the Bruins.
Also nominated for player of the month honors was Sihwan Kim of Stanford, a freshman who was co-medalist at the CordeValle Collegiate and had top 15 finishes in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational and the Fighting Illini Invitational.
