Jennifer Song, one of the world's top prep golfers and a senior at Taejon Christian International School in Seoul, Korea, has signed a letter of intent with USC, head women's golf coach Andrea Gaston announced on Friday (Nov. 16).
Song, who has dual citizenship between America and Korea, has had a standout 2007 as an amateur. She tied for the low amateur at the 2007 Women's Open, was a quarterfinalist at the 2007 U.S. Women's Amateur and most recently finished 11th at the KB Star Tour Grand Final, a Korean LPGA tournament.
Song, who turned in numerous top 10 finishes at various amateur and junior competitions in 2005 and 2006, competed and qualified for match play at the 2007 U.S. Junior Girl's, competed at the 2006 Asia Pacific Junior Championship and the 2006 Korea Women's Open and tied for second at the 2006 Korean Women's Amateur.
'Jennifer is an extremely dedicated student-athlete who has already competed at the highest level,' Gaston said. 'Her experiences this past summer at the U.S. Women's Open and other notable USGA tournaments, along with her recent experience competing against some of the top Korean women professionals, demonstrates her ability to become one of the top players in the country. She has the heart of a champion, and with her work ethic and talent, I have every confidence that she will be a major impact player for the Women of Troy.'
