Brynn Cameron Scores 16 To Lead USC Women's Hoops In Win Over Colorado

Junior guard Brynn Cameron scored 16 points, including hitting 4-of-7 three-point shots, and USC's 11 three-pointers were 1 shy of the school single game record as the Women of Troy defeated Colorado, 70-57, in a non-conference game in front of 964 fans at the Galen Center on Sunday (Nov. 18).
USC improved to 1-1, while the Buffaloes dropped to 1-1.
The Women of Troy were 11-of-22 (50.0%) from three-point range. The Trojans made 25-of-58 baskets overall from the field (43.1%), as they shot better from behind the arc than inside it (14-of-36, 38.9%).
Joining Cameron in the long-range assault was senior forward Simone Jelks, who was 3-of-3 on three-pointers to finish with 10 points.
USC junior guard Camille LeNoir saw her first action since the 2006 season after suffering a hip injury. She started and scored 9 points with 3 assists. Sophomore guard Heather Oliver added 9 points off the bench for the Women of Troy.
Colorado, which shot just 38.2% from the field and had 26 turnovers, was led by freshman forward Brittany Spears, who had 19 points and 7 rebounds. A pair of sophomores, guard Bianca Smith and forward Aija Putnina, each added 9 points for the Buffaloes, who outrebounded Troy, 39-32.
USC never trailed in the game. The Women of Troy were up 13-4 less than 5 minutes into the game and then opened up a 21-7 lead midway through the first half. USC led 37-16 at halftime while shooting 40.6% from the field to Colorado's 23.8%. Cameron topped all scorers at intermission with 10 points.
USC next travels to the Junkaroo Jam in Freeport, Bahamas, to face Virginia Tech this Friday (Nov. 23) at 5:40 p.m. The Women of Troy will then play either Georgia or Prairie View A&M on Saturday (Nov. 24).
